參考范文范文:
When seeking job or meeting influential figures, people often downplay their strengths and accomplishments, whether because of shyness or they just want to be modest. From my perspective, I think you should instead recognize them. For one thing, you can distinguish yourself, for another thing, you are giving potential employers necessary information.
To start with, demonstrating your advantages and previous experience helps you distinguish yourself from other candidates. Remember no matter how excellent you are at school, you will always face equally worthy candidates, so why should the recruiter hire you? Go ahead and tell them your top strengths and characteristics correspond to the position you desire, you be will thankful in the future. To take myself as an example, as a PhD student, I worked very hard in the lab, so did my other classmates. But when applying for a research position in a big company, I got the offer, while they didn’t. This is because I spent a lot of time designing my PowerPoint. I presented high-level scientific concepts and demonstrated my curious and creative minds confidently and smoothly, while my classmates felt uneasy talking about their accomplishments, they were afraid the employer would think they were bragging. As a result, I outcompeted them and became the winner.
Secondly, it is necessary to convey the right information to your potential employers, for they would be able to put you in the right place. As an old saying goes, talents in the wrong place are actually trash. Employers are not your family or friends, they only have limited time to figure you out. Providing them with the necessary information helps them make decisions, which will benefit the company in the future. Take my bother Jim as an example, he studied finance in college, but he was actually every good at marketing. At first, the human resource put him in the financial department, however he was not settled, instead, he told his manager openly about his strengths and the role he played in his previous internship and school activities. The manager was impressed and moved him to sales department. As a result, he became top sales that year and earned a lot of money for the company. The manager was very happy and rewarded him with a fancy car. If he chose silence and accepted the arrangement, he wouldn’t be that successful.
In conclusion, success doesn’t come easily especially in a society full of fierce competition and uncertainty. Recognize your values, practice self-talk to replace the voice of diffidence and display them openly to the important people, you will be successful in the future as well.
